Nectar Nectar New York proudly collaborates with a diverse range of organizations to empower women through skill training and sustainable economic opportunities. By partnering with these organizations, we provide comprehensive training in the creation of artisanal jewelry components, directly supporting women’s livelihoods and fostering economic independence.
Our team specializes in teaching traditional techniques to craft exquisite elements such as carved petrified wood motifs, crochet silk beads, hand-painted mother-of-pearl pieces, pottery beads, handcrafted enamel designs, braided cords, and leather accents. These intricate, handcrafted components are not only a testament to the artisans’ skills but also serve as the foundation for Nectar Nectar’s unique, high-quality jewelry collections. Together, we are building a future where artistry, empowerment and sustainable growth go hand in hand.
1.SWARAJ JAIL UNIVERSITY (Mr.Manish Jain, Executive Trustee. Inmates Trainer & Coordinator Ms. Radhika Somani)
The Swaraj Jail University Correction Centre in Udaipur, Rajasthan, was established in October 2018 as a groundbreaking initiative to prototype a self-designed learning program within the Udaipur Central Jail. Its mission is to empower inmates by helping them rediscover their passions, acquire practical skills, and rebuild their self-esteem, leadership abilities, and life vision—all while navigating the challenges of incarcerated life. At the heart of this initiative lies a unique approach: inmates are invited and supported to design personalized learning programs tailored to their individual interests and needs. Here, everyone is both a teacher and a learner, fostering a collaborative and empowering community within the jail.
This transformative program draws inspiration from two decades of action-research conducted by Shikshantar and Swaraj University and was brought to life through a partnership between Shikshantar, Art of Living, Gandhi Ashram-Moved by Love, Edible Routes Foundation, and Nav-Gurukul, alongside the dedicated staff and inmates of the Udaipur Central Jail.
Women inmates, in particular, have found opportunities to support their families by earning income through crafting beautiful and intricate items such as gemstone dolls, silk-wrapped beads, and other artisanal creations. These efforts not only provide financial support but also instill a sense of purpose and pride in their work, further contributing to their journey of transformation and self-reliance.
