Sara, we can check out your website, but if you would like to be considered for this issue, you need to send up to 10 jpgs to nectarmagazine@gmail.com. Otherwise we can’t consider your work.
Tomorrow I will send you my archive!
I would be interested in sharing my work with Nectar.
Great! You can attach files and send them to nectarmagazine@gmail.com to be considered for this issue.

Awesome! We look forward to receiving it!
Hey ! I am so happy to find these magazine” for the Art seen comunity” Bravo
Cool! I’m glad you like it. This issue looks like it is going to be incredible.
I sent you my artwork for your magazine, Thanks!
Recieved and replied!
I was born in upstate New York where I, as a young boy, marvelled at the old Victorian homes.
Great call! I sent you my share…
Just received it! Thank you!
Can we copy/paste a piece of writing into an email, or is it mandatory to attach it as a file?
It makes it easier for us to jury the submissions if it is in a separate file. But if you can’t, you can paste it into the email.
Im happy to have been introduced to what appears to be another great magazine for photography.
Cheers,
Christian Robotti
We are glad that you found us!
Can I send just one photo instead of 10???
Thanks,
Amarildo.
Of course!
I am new to digital art, and I would like to know 1. how do I (can I find it in preview?) find out what the dpi is on my work? 2. what is considered high/low resolution? 3. how do I go about adjusting dpi and resolution (do I go back to my software and adjust , or can I adjust it in Preview? I haven’t seen anything like that in preview) I have been told my work is low resolution, whenever I have it printed, but it prints fine – however I understand that an online (or maybe a paper) publication needs high resolution.
I believe that the only way to view/change the dpi of an image is through a program like Photoshop. Preview isn’t advanced enough for that. Low resolution, or resolution for the screen is usually 72 dpi. High resolution for print is between 240-360. The place where we are printing our magazine requires files of 300 dpi. You can change dpi in Photoshop, but the original file needs to have been created fairly large in the first place.
where can i see the previous issue/issues ? is it online or printer?
thx
Our first issue, Evidence of Home, is currently being designed and is set for release in May. It will be both printed and online. We will link to each issue from this website when they release.
thanks a lot for this!!
Hey guys, I was just wondering if you recieved my entries to both the writing and art categories. I was also curious as to if there was a true chance that I could win, even though I am moving back to Georgia. Thankyou I hope to here back soon.
Zakk, we received both of your writing pieces and your single image. We will give your pieces an equal judgement as all of the other work we get, but since we jury all of the work at the same time, and I am not the only juror, I can’t give you an answer either way at the moment. I can say that you will get an impartial judgement.
I’d like to submit a short story on the theme Most of Us Die. Can it be about someone’s pet bird dying? What about a dog? And then maybe the dog’s owner? I can make it interesting, I promise you!
Looking forward to hearing from you………
Colleen
Colleen, if you think it fits the theme, feel free to send it in. Our theme doesn’t necessarily have to do with human death, but mortality in general, so your idea would fit.
May I re-submit or complete the 10 by adding. I believe I only submitted 4 the first time. I have some newer images that fit the theme better than relying on the conceptualism.
Christian, you can definitely do that. Just send the rest of the files to our email. If you would like to replace any submissions, please send your entire updated body of submission in the same email. Thanks!
thanks. I felt I pushed the ‘art of conceptualism’ a bit too far. Ha.
Very much appreciated.
No problem!

Great!
This may be a silly question, but — 30 pages double or single spaced for written work?
Thanks in advance!
Double, preferably. Around 5,000 words.
Just sent in my submission! I even posted about this on my Blog site for others to submit as well.

Thank you so much! We don’t have an advertising budget yet, so every bit helps.
Hi, where can I submit my work?
Marcelo, you can email your images or stories to nectarmagazine@gmail.com. Please limit 10 images.
just sending 2 works!
Thanks, bye
Sent my 2 prints!
Great! Thanks, Jonathan.
So, I’m a little new to all of this, if I paint an oil painting, to submit it to you I would have to take a picture of it and upload it to you and then…what would happen?
Leah, You would email us the photo of your painting and in June, a team of jurors get together and sort through all the work and pick out the ones that will make the best issue. If yours is selected, we would ask you to send a high resolution/print quality version of the file for the magazine.
So for paintings do I just take a picture of the painting ?
Valacity, yes, you would need to photograph the painting. If it is chosen, we will need a high resolution image, so try to take a good quality image.
if i want to submit a poem…can I?I mean i didn’t understand “send up to 4 pieces or up to 30 pages total ” with the reference of sending a poem…
4 pieces means writing pieces, including poetry, fiction, nonfiction, lyric essays, and any other writing form. So yes, feel free to submit a poem.
what are my chances of being accepted if I submit my work? I’m only curious because there are other shows I want to submit my art to. Also, if my piece were chosen would it be possible to obtain a print copy of nectar magazine? And how long would it take for that magazine to come out?
Sandra, for this current issue we have had around 300 submitters for visual art. We will select probably between 100-250 works of art for the issue, but I can’t say any of this for certain since I am not the only juror. Our magazines will be available for purchase as a print copy as well as a digital copy on Magcloud.com. We work with a designer to create the best looking magazine possible, so it takes a few months to release.
Hi Helen,
are the pieces in our submissions considered individually or as a single entry? Are we allowed to submit both a visual arts portfolio and writing portfolio? Also, do you want our info in the e-mail or in a separate Word document?
Thank you!
Steph,
If the pieces are from the same series, we will look at the series as a whole, and may only take a few if we take it. Otherwise, the pieces are looked at individually. If you for some reason want your images all together or not in at all, please say that in the email.
You can have both writing and image portfolios.
We prefer information to be in the email.
Thanks
Helen
So glad I found this. I am busy shooting for a couple of projects right now that deal directly with death. I’ll have my submissions out in a few days. Cheers!
looking forward to seeing them!
Hi Helen,
your project sounds great I just want to ask if you are giving a free copy of the magazine for the artist you have chosen specially overseas?
Thank you!
RG, although we would love to and we might in the future, we do not currently have a budget at all, but anyone in the world can purchase a copy when it goes live on MagCloud.
Just have sent pictures of my sculptures. Forget to make files smaller – had to send 3 e-mails. Sorry…
Gregory, that is fine. Thanks for the submissions!
Hi Helen!
First, congratulations on graduating!!
I am writing to you today about YOLK, a website for stories about the younger demographic in Santa Fe as it applies to art and creative industries.
I think Nectar and the minds behind it could be a great candidate for an article on YOLK. We are just beginning to start up the site but you can check out what we have so far at yolksantafe.com and let me know if you are interested.
Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you soon!
Sincerely,
Katelyn Peer
Katelyn, YOLK looks awesome. I’d love to be a part of it. Let me know when you want to get together. This looks like a great community builder!
Great to hear, Helen! I would love to meet up for coffee or something and chat about possibilities. I will be in town on Saturday covering the performance/concert at O’Shaugnessy from about 11-2ish. I can meet before or after if you want? Or perhaps during the week? Let me know what works best for you. If you want you can email me at katelynpeer@yolksantafe.com as well. I’m very excited to work with you and catch up!
Hey there! Forgive me if you already answered this somewhere and I missed it, but: Do you retain publication rights? Or would selected pieces be free for publication elsewhere? Thanks!
Ashley, we retain the rights to publish in the issue you submitted for, and possible advertisement in the future, but all other uses stay yours.
Thanks! Submissions sent.
my work is now finally done and sent too!
thanks a lot for this opportunity.
Got it! I’m glad that we can provide this service.
Hi Helen, last couple of weeks have been crazy time wise for me and I’ve shot more theme appropriate photographs…just want to make sure that I get them in by the deadline…so that would be by Midnight on June 1st?
Kathy, yes. We will accept submissions until midnight Pacific time on the 1st.
